Thoughts From the Pit
Nestled between Cypress Park and Eagle Rock on the eastside of Los Angeles lies a magical place called Cafe Nela. Walking through the doors can be like climbing into Lucy’s wardrobe and passing into the land of Narnia…that is if Narnia contained loads of great punk bands and the coolest and most inviting of places to hang with your friends. This place is all that and a bag of chips. Cafe Nela feels familiar in the best way. It’s also about a half a mile from my casa. SCORE!

"The Old Church" is now a restaurant called Abigaile's
Worst thing ever: we are here at the restaurant/brew pub known as Abigaile's which is located on the spot of the original "the Old Church" in Hermosa Beach. The Old Church was the home of Black Flag, The Last and other oldschool punks, around 1979. At this restaurant, they have some faux graffiti chalkboard wall covering that features an Exploited stencil and other graffiti of a general nature... Really? In the bathroom they have what looks like reprints of original flyer

El Nada, The Skrewz, and The Freeze.
It was a great night at The Doll Hut, El Nada was on fire, and really put on a great show! Social Task was supposed to play but was replaced with the Skrewz, (due to personal reasons) fronted by Scott Sisunik, the founder of China White. It was a fantastic set that included a lot of old school songs from the 80's and more. When it came time for The Freeze to play, wow, they ripped it up great! Fantastic show, good people, great night.

Rods and Riders Car Show
Went and saw an amazing Rockabilly band called the Sandbox Bullies which you definitely don't have to be Rockabilly to enjoy! They played at the Rods and Riders car show in Ontario, and despite the heat, these guys killed it! They really put on a great show! Robbie Bell is smooth as hell on vocals, Jason Carman has to be the most entertaining stand up bassist to watch, as he plays his bass while standing on top of it, and Billy Corner keeps the beat on drums. Check out t

Agent Orange at the Kamin Bar
Agent orange played last night at the kamin bar in Laguna Nigel. The zero class opened for them, if you haven't heard of the zero class you really must check them out, they are worth a look, great set, very nice guys. Agent orange took the stage and played a blistering set, so much energy, it is not a wonder why they have remained one of the best bands out there! Mike Palm was fantastic with his guitar and leads, Perry Gx was rockin the rickenbacker bass like no other and

Thoughts From the Pit
Three freeways and a massive storm didn’t keep me away from the M15 Concert Bar and Grill last Saturday evening for a line up that was sure to please. As I strolled up to the ticket window something slightly disturbing caught my eye. There before me hung huge signs that stated “No moshing”…”NO moshing” …”NO MOSHING!!” Hey, was I at a punk show or what? I passed through the doors and bellied up to the bar for my first cranberry juice. (Don’t go hatin’ on me…I needed to driv

D.I., Agent Orange, M15
“Walkin Toxins” put on a fantastic show, and D.I. was on fire with guest appearance from Bonnie, from the band “Nashville Pussy”. Agent Orange kicked off a great set full of energy. It was a fantastic night at a great venue! #agentorange #DI #BobbyYerbes

X, The Blasters, & Mike Watt and the Secondmen at The Observatory in Santa Ana, CA.
X, The Blasters, & Mike Watt and the Secondmen at The Observatory in Santa Ana, CA. Every show has a moment that captures the mood of the gig. Mike Watt’s quote for the evening set the tone. Punk isn’t a style of music; it’s a state of mind. True to form Mike Watt, The Blasters, & X all performed tonight in a manner that exemplified punk rock through a variety of musical styles. The night had touch of melancholy, as it was X guitarist Billy Zoom’s last show for a while as he
